Commutative Algebra is a popular topic of Mathematics in Iran. Although Algebra has its
own roots to a thousand years ago in Iran, in the modern era, Commutative Algebra was founded in
Iran in the 1980s by Hossein Zakeri. Another influential person in developing this topic was Siamak
Yassemi whose work had significant effects in extending the involved areas and internationalizing
the Iranian community in Commutative Algebra.
Since the day of inception of Institute for Research in
Fundamental Sciences (IPM) in 1989, Commutative Algebra has
been one of the main domains of activity at its School of
Mathematics.
